Umunna – Health Select Committee letter shows NHS desperately needs the £350m promised by Brexiteers

Commenting on the letter by the Health Affairs Select Committee to the Government today, Chuka Umunna MP, Chair of Vote Leave Watch, said:

“This letter shows the idea that our NHS is being fully funded is simply untrue. More than ever before, it is clear that the Health Service is in desperate need of the extra £350 million per week funding boost promised by Leave campaigners now in the cabinet during the EU referendum.

“The Autumn Statement later this month will give the Government the chance to commit to this vital funding. If they do not, it will be clear that Vote Leave ministers like Boris Johnson misled the public throughout the referendum campaign.”

Separately, commenting on reports that Mark Carney will serve his full term as Governor of the Bank of England, Mr Umunna said:

“Mark Carney has done an excellent job steering our economy through choppy waters created by the irresponsibility of Brexit campaigners.

“Leave campaigners should pipe down with their attacks on Mr Carney. They have done enough damage to our economy already.”
