Commenting on Boris Johnson’s appearance on Peston, and David Davis’ appearance on Marr, Chuka Umunna MP, Chair of Vote Leave Watch, said:
“Boris and David Davis’ comments this morning show that we really are up Brexit creek without a paddle.
“Leaving the EU with no deal in place would send our economy over a cliff-edge, with huge barriers to trade being introduced. Boris Johnson may shrug off the risks, but it is working people who would be left worst off from this hardest of hard Brexits.
“And the idea that our entire Brexit strategy should be kept secret in a draw in David Davis’ desk – while he denies the right to remain for EU citizens – is laughable.
“Their comments have shown why MPs have to pass the two amendments which return to the House of Commons this week, on protecting the rights of EU citizens, and on giving MPs a final vote on the Brexit deal.”
