Commenting on leaked Treasury documents showing that a ‘Hard Brexit’ could cost the UK £66 billion a year, Chuka Umunna MP, Chair of Vote Leave Watch, said:
“These studies outline the horrific potential cost of leaving the Single Market. Behind the figures, losing £66bn a year in revenue would mean fewer doctors, nurses, teachers and police officers in Britain.
“Leave campaigners talked about extra funding for the NHS, but it’s clear that the biggest threat to the NHS budget would be a Hard Brexit that would damage the economy, reduce tax receipts, and leave less money to spend on the Health Service.
“For growth, jobs, and public services, it is vital that Britain remains a member of the Single Market.”
