Umunna – Great Repeal Bill cannot be used to reduce rights at work

Commenting on the Great Repeal Bill white paper, which was released this morning, Chuka Umunna MP, Chair of Vote Leave Watch, said:

"European Union law has for decades provided rights and protections to the British people - especially rights at work. Transferring it all into British law will be an immense undertaking, fraught with danger.

"Right-wing Tory Brexiteers like Liam Fox and Priti Patel have spent years waiting for this moment to cut the rights of British working people. From anti-discrimination laws to the Social Chapter to ECJ case law providing holiday pay, too many Conservatives see Brexit as a chance for a damaging bonfire of regulations.

"It is absolutely crucial that the Government keep the promise of the Vote Leave campaign and retain EU rules on rights at work, in full, as the Great Repeal Bill goes through."
